New Delhi - Vriksh The Theatre is back with their most prestigious event “Thespis 2 - National Micro Drama Festival 2018”. The main event is scheduled for 11th February 2018 at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi & entries were invited from all around the nation. They have selected 30 scripts from all across the nation in different languages.
The festival is named after ‘Thespis of Icaria', who lived in the Sixth Century BC and was the First Actor ever appeared on Stage to perform alone. The plays will take place in different languages which include regional languages like Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam etc.
Thespis 2 – National Micro Drama Festival 2018 is now set to present 30 dramas which will not exceed the 10 minutes duration. The Micro Drama tales will be based on different themes and titles which may open an eye towards the current situations witnessed by our Society. All scripts will be fresh and never seen before at any platforms. As to heat up the competition, Best Production is awarded with a Cash Prize of ₹25,000/- with a Prestigious Memento and Certificate. Vriksh will be presenting 10 Awards in Different categories which include Best Production, Best Director, Best Script, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Technician, Second Best Production with Special Jury Awards for Selected Director, Actress & Actor respectively according to the Performance.  The First ever National Micro Drama festival was held at IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts), New Delhi on 09th April 2017 & was inaugurated by Prof. Waman Kendre (Director of National School of Drama, New Delhi) & Prof. Omchery N.N.Pillai (Renowned Pet & Playwright).The Event which took place at New Delhi took a new dimension on Drama History and was Mentioned in Best of India Records for Festival. Thespis-National Micro Drama Festival 2017 was a huge success in all means as it took place even in Bank Entrance, GK Today and more Current Affairs Questionnaires.
Thespis 2 will also witness a Tribute paying to a few Theatre Artists and Activists like Mr. Tom Alter, Shri. Vallabh Vyas, Mrs.  Mangalam Swaminath & Shri. Radhakrishnan Wayanad, who all passed away recently. The Event is organized by Vriksh the Theatre, a theatre group based in New Delhi lead by some Drama Lovers & Theatre Activists of New Delhi itself. Vriksh is best known for their works on History Drama which was a biography on the life of ‘Rao Bahadur V.P. Menon’, who integrated the native states into the Indian Union. Also, they won The 2017 Sangeet Natak Akademi’s National award for Best Production, Best Actress & Best Director for the Drama “Meghangale, Keezhadanguvin”(Clouds, Surrender).
